Testpipes

hey ,
are testpipes worth the price to buy them?
how much horsepower does it gain?
are they illegal?
i have a 99 civic

1) Not in my opinion. Good for all out racing only.
2) Not much on a NA, mildy modified car. Maybe on a turbo car or a 12:1 compression, built all-motor car. But for most applications, not much HP at all.
3) Yes, very much so. They take out the cat. and are pretty much totally going against EPA rules.

I know that CARB and stuff gives us hard times, but you have to respect that as best you can. Pollution is a growing problem. Go fast and have your future generations live in a fucked world or go slightly slower and guarantee them a better place to live.


Sorry if I sound like a tree hugger but we've got to start thinking about this kind of thing.
