Anti-theft warning disabling start

I've been having trouble with my 99 Grand Am GT for the past couple months. More and more often, I'll try to start it and the security light will come on, thereby disabling the fuel injection and not allowing the car to start. The first time, i just waited a few minutes for the light to disappear, then the car started right up. Now, I usually go through these steps 2-3 times before the car will actually start. Is this a small problem that can be fixed easily or am I looking at a serious issue? Thanks in advance!

Its not a difficult concern to repair.
First thing is to retrieve the DTC to find the exact problem with the theft deterent.
Usually replacing the passlock sensor will fix the concern.
