I had been looking at used Corolla's and Civics a few years old. Then I ran across one if these pursuits in a parking lot. Looked not too bad for a cheap GM, took one for a drive and it seems to drive ok. Wife likes it in and out plus no more cheap cavalier door handels!

We would want the 4 door sedan with the 2.2L and 5 speed which they tell me will get 40+ imp. MPG all day long. It should get this easly as its rated at 46 imp. mpg or like 6.2L/100kms.

If this car can't get at least 40 mpg on the highway or 35 mpg combined I don't want it. Old 96' buick regal's with the 3800 will do 42 mpg on the highway and its alot bigger car! So I would think Cobalt should do better???

My Cobalt (5 speed manual) has gotten 35 mpg over the life of the car (~5500 miles so far). I'm not sure on exact numbers, but it's at least close to 40mpg highway.

My Cobalts DIC says I am getting 26.6 MPG. I have had the car since March and I have just over 2000 miles on it. I think this mileage is more realistic. I have an 06 SS/SC.

I gotta add that I was just out in the Cobalt and the actual MPG reads 24.6. I had posted that it was 26.6. When I first got the car, it started out at 23.3 or so and slowly went up to what it is now. It appears that 24.6 is the best that I am gonna get in my SS/SC because it's been about the same for the past month. It did get to 24.7 once but almost immediatetly dropped to 24.6.

after the 2.2 cobalt is broke in, and your have a stick and drive right, at a low rpm on the highway and drive mostly on the highway, you should not have a problem getting 40mpg on the highway. A CAI (cold air intake) will help alot.

For those with the 2.0L supercharged engine: your mileage will be lower than the mileage for a car with the 2.2L naturally aspirated engine. The supercharger forces more air into the cylinders, which causes the engine to need more fuel to get the same air/fuel ratio, which naturally increases horsepower and decreases fuel economy.
