How would a base 06 cobalt do racing against a newish (2000's) tib? both stock, 2.2 I4 vs 2.7 v6.

Re: Cobalt vs Tiburon

I think it would lose. Now if you go SS nonS/C with 171hp. The SS would win.

Re: Cobalt vs Tiburon

Of course the Cobalt is going to lose. But why would you compare the top model Tibby to the base model Cobalt?

Chevy85 is right about the non s/c ss being a good match up for the V6 Tibby though. It would be a very close matchup.

Re: Cobalt vs Tiburon

Now if you go like this

06 Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2.4L I4 Coupe
171hp/163ft.lbs 5 Speed at 2991 Lbs Curb weight
06 Hyundai Tiburon GT 2.7L V6 Coupe
172hp/181ft.lbs 6 Speed at 2986 Lbs Curb weight

The Hyundai is most likely the winner due to the ft.lbs of torque and the extra gear. However it doesnt guarantee victory with a better driver in the SS it is a possible SS victory.
