Big guy, need some driver's seat leg room

I'm a pretty big guy, 6'1" and 295lbs, and on the driver's seat of every 240 I've ever had, I would need probably 2 more inches rear travel on the adjustment to achieve the perfect driving position.

Has anyone ever done a mod like this? What would it entail? How would I go about this without compromising safety?

Thanks,
Fig

Re: Big guy, need some driver's seat leg room

This is how we did it on mine!
Undo the two 13mm bolts at the back of the seat. Slide the seat back and now you should be able to undo the front two nuts with a socket. Disconnect the wires and pull the seat out from the car (you may need to adjust the recliner to do this).
Now you need to remove the fram this is held on with four 13mm headed bolts. You should now have this -

The next job is to split the two parts of the frame by undoing the four nuts.
Now you need to knock out the two studs that are at the front of the seat. Then place the top part of the fram over the back to studs so the are protruding through the first of the bigger holes -

If you secure the two parts together you can now mark the front for drilling. I used the second hole to drill through as the furthest forward one was very close to lug. You will need to drill the holes in the bottom part of the frame out to 9mm. You can then drift the studs into your new holes.

Them assemble the two parts together you need penny washes for the back two underneath for packing and one on top to hold it down.

You can now re fix on the seat and fit it to the car.

This is very simple job and can be done with only basic tools.

Good luck,

Mike
