Question Windsheild wiper motor replacement

Hello... I am the proud owner of a used 1987 325e (112,000 on the clock), that has recently lost the life of its' wiper motor (gearbox, actually). I want to know if any of you experienced Bimmer owners know how to remove the motor and linkage (if necessary) to replace the motor/gearbox, without dismantling half of the vehicle? It seems that the heater box has to be moved out of the way to accomplish this. I would certainly appreciate any advice/guidance here. Thanks in advance!

I have a similar issue with a 85 318i. I got as far as to the motor using the bentley manual but can't get the motor out. To get to the motor there are several screws and a couple of plastic fasteners that allow you to remove a section of the firewall in the center of the engine compartment. Once this is removed there are two plasitc straps that hold the cover over the blower motor. disconnect the plastic straps, unplug the wiring, release the spring and take out the blower motor. The spring is on the center of the motor and you have to pry it with a screwdriver. It is not a coil spring. I got that far and am now stuck. Good luck,

Tony

Here is an update. I took the 3 bolts out of the motor and the nut holding the wiper mechanism to the motor off. Once I got the mechanism to fall away from the motor I was able to get the motor out. It is going to be extremely difficult to get it back in.

I hope this helps.

Tony
