95 cav fuel line disconnect?

Just bought a 95 cav, pulling engine and trans to do a clutch job abd replace head gasket too. Have disconnected all elec lines, but now the big question? How do i disconnect the fuel lines from the engine please? There are five lines coming from under the car to the front engine area--3 small and two large. The small are the brake lines, the two big ones connect to two flexible rubber hose fitting that then goes to the left and right back side of the engine/fuel injector line. The passenger side is connected by a plate/nut that looks to be able to unscrew, the left side goes to the fuel regulator bottom and looks to be able to unscrew with two large wrenches on it....have a repair manual and have shut down the fuel system before turning off the car for this by pulling the fuse in the main relay area. I have seen on the web different types of 3/16 and 5/16 inserts that fit over the fuel line and release a plastic cover but don't see it on this car, have followed the fuel lines to this rusty type fitting and don't know how to release them-----HELP PLEASE!!! Thank you in advance for any help!!!

They sell the removal device at auto part stores for a couple bucks.

First you must relieve the pressure in the fuel line. Then you blow out the fitting with compressed air to get any mud out, (protect your eyes), then snap the sleeve device around the gas line. Slide the sleeve into the fitting which folds the locking barbs away from the gas line. now pull the connection apart as you twist the fitting. when you re connect the fitting you are supposed to replace the o-ring to prevent leaks. Also lightly lube the o-ring to reconnect without damage to the ring.

If you skip the blow out step you will probably require a new o-ring.

I am not a mechanic, I just pretend to be one at home.....

Re: 95 cav fuel line disconnect?

I've built my home sleeves with pizza plate made with aluminium. Works great.
