I have a 2001 Plymouth Neon LX with 46000 miles.
I took it to firestone for inpsection and was told that the front lower control arm bushings need to be replaced. Cost: $350!
OK
Two days later they say that they can't find the bushings so they have to contact the manufacturer.
OK
One day later they say that the bushings can't be replaced - the whole control arms must be replaced to change the bushings. Cost: $950!

Does this sound right? I read online replacing the control arms is pretty involved, but $950?

Any ideas or comments?

Thanks

no at all. i just replace the bushings in my srt control arm (differnt arm, differnt car i know!) with prothane bushings. it ran me $35 for the bushings and a couple hours of time. check with prothane through your local speed shop! labor shouldnt be more than $300 unless the dealership is doing it for you, then $350-400 is acceptable cause they like to take advantage of you!
