I just found a 2000 Black 6spd WS6 Trans Am for $17,500...worth it?

My dad and I found a Black 2000 WS6 Trans Am w/ 51k miles. He was asking $18,250 but I'm pretty sure he'll come down to $17,500.

Here is a link if you want to see it:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ice=&cardist=0

long link huh!?

We looked at it tonight and it is in "Excellent" condition. Haven't got to drive it yet(I've never driven a manual...I have a 4spd Firebird) but I got to ride in it and it was awesome.

My question is: Is this car worth $17,500?

I would sell my 1999 with 29K miles for $18K.

Too many miles for the price. If it was more like $16K I would go for it.
This one is MUCH closer to a good price than the other one though.

Thank you very much for your input Mr. Luos. $16,000 is what my dad is going to try and talk him for.

BTW...Which would you rather have:

98-02

Coupe Auto/Manual
Covertible Auto/Manual

My dad is dead set on getting a manual. I'm almost 19 years old and I've only had 2 cars. A 97' Pontiac Sunfire and my current car, a 98' Pontiac Firebird. They are both automatics. I've never driven a manual before and I'm kind of worried it will take me a while to get used to driving it. I've heard that it is hard to go from a manual to an Automatic.

The reason my dad wants a 6 speed is because he used to drag race when he was my age (he had a Chevelle or something like that) and that car brings back memories of it.

From what I hear, you can get more power out of a manual than you could ever get out of an automatic.

So in terms of performance:

6 Speed> 4 Speed

So do you think a 6 speed WS6 could take a 4 speed C4 or C5 corvette?

C4....yes.
C5....yes if the WS.6 has a couple mods.

I personally like the M6 (6 speed) over the A4 (automatic). Although if I were going for track times I would go with the A4.
The only reason the automatic makes less power is the drivetrain loss. The motor makes the power, not the tranny.

I personally would never go convertible. They have a TON of body flex under torque. Plus, they are heavy.

I would go for the six also , but thats what I have now . Carmax said my 2000 TA was only worth $12000 with 50k . I said KISS MY @&&. $16000 is great price to shoot for . Its not insulting . Rob

$17,500 is as low as he is willing to go...

It has about 51-53,000 miles but it has been babied (we can tell) and is in near immaculate condition. It doesn't have TCS btw (do manuals not have TCS?)

My dad is thinking strongly about buying it...is a manual hard to drive?

Tell him to look elsewhere.

My manual has traction control.

Thank you for your input Mr. Luos but my dad is set on getting this car. Unfortuanately, he won't go any lower...even without the TCS...

Is the absence of TCS a very big deal (obviously we're not going to floor it in first gear around a turn).

No. I normally turn mine off as soon as I turn the car on.
Would be a pain in the ass to drive in the winter though without it.
Although it really just sucks driving these in the winter even with the TCS. The right tires make a HUGE difference.

Alright, thanks Mr. Luos.

We won't be driving this machine in the winter...that's for sure!

Hey Mr. Luos...how could I find out how many 6 speed WS6s were made in 2000? Are 6speeds harder to find than 4 speeds?

I am not really sure on the build numbers.

There is a guy on LS1.com in the firebird section that got me my build number. The thread is a sticky there.
