98 Cavalier temp gauge problem with check engine light code P0117

It's a 2.2L The temp gauge will not register anything however, it does jump just a bit when you start the car so I know it has power to it. I have already replaced the temp sending unit and that has not fixed this problem.

Any ideas on this before I take it to the dealer and get raped. I think the check engine code was P0117 but not sure off the top of my head. All the codes around that one deal with the temp sensor and high or low voltage. What should the voltage be at the sending unit?

Thanks for the help.

Would a low or high voltage condition at the coolant sensor cause the temp gauge not to work? There are two sensors right? Water temp which controls the gauge and coolant sensor that controls the low coolant light right?

Sorry, I’m new to Chevy’s and still learning. I did change the wheel bearing/hub assembly and do a break job without asking questions……….. My other car is that “F” word.

Found the issue. It was a broken lead inside the connector. $36.00 for a new one at the dealer.
