After Market Stereo losing presets and clock

So for the past 2 days my truck has lost it presets and clock and the battery seems to be fine and everything else is functioning properly. No blown fuses, nothing else is resetting like the trip or over head console. Any ideas? Could it be the stereo or is it something else?

Sounds like your negative battery cable. Check the connection, make sure there's no corrosion, etc.

no the presets and clock are kept in the system by keeping constant power, see the stereo should have a memory line, this line needs power going to it at all times, if the wire has come loose or was not hooked up then you will lose info, if nothing wrong with the connection you may have to run a line directly to it. If you end up running a line make sure it has an inline fuse.

It has been working fine for a month and now this is happening. Was installed at Circuit City by my cousin who I know actually cares about his work and solders things together doesn't just twist and tape them so maybe I will have him open it up and found out what the deal is.

Re: After Market Stereo losing presets and clock

Probe the constant battery wire in the rear of your deck to make sure that you have 12 volts on line. If you do, then your deck probably needs to be repaired. If you don’t. you need to test forward to the power source. Depending on where the constant battery led is connected to . First check to ensure that if its fused. If so, check the fuse, replace if necessary. Trace led to where it connects to 12 volt power. Most cases, they run it to the battery connector in the fuse box. Check that fuse as well. If fuse checks OK and still no power. The easiest way would be to reroute the line to the battery direct on the Positive side. Hope this helps….
