Can this be removed?

I am trying to emove all the chrome exterior pieces. I will have to replace the front bumper to do this BUT can the pieces with chrome strips embedded in them on the dorrs be removed? Are they adhesive or will I end up having to patch and repaint holes?

If you need a visual, the things circled in red need to be removed.

Thanks!

The only portion of the molding with holes are on the end caps next to the bumper... These can be filled in. Other than that simply use a fishing line to cut the molding off (run the line behind the molding) and then use an eraser wheel to remove the rest of the tape..

Re: Can this be removed?

Well that sucks. I was hoping for no holes. It will have to wait until I get my body kit next year and get it all painted. No need to have body work done now and then in a few months.

Thanks!

May I ask why you want to remove it? I think your truck looks very nice the way it is...

Re: Can this be removed?

I asked on Hotrodders.com autobody section how to de-chrome things, and they told me to sandblast the item, and use a good quality urthane primer.

This is what I did with all my Blazers chrome, (except the grill which I'll be changing soon) and it seems to be lasting.

I've scraped the front bumper on trees, and rocks, and the paint is still there.

Hey rlith, I Want to take off the chrome from the fenders the side and the bumpers on my '97 LT Blazer but i fear there are holes behind 'em. Is mine the same as his you suppose? please throw me some info, also here are some pictures of it to give you and Idea.

I wanna take it off, cause im hoping to get some Fender flares with my lift and having the black match would look good. Also why would the LT's come with chrome siding and not a chrome grill, i just find that odd, anyone else?

On the fenders the only holes will be underneath...Be aware though there may be marks in the paint from the pressure of the trim on the fenders. For the bumper and end caps, yes, there will be holes and they will need to be filled. (for the bumper it's actually cheaper to get a new bumper without the holes and get it painted)
