Transmission Removal

Thanks for the responses on the weight of the transmission. Now I have a new question.

can anyone give me some tips on removing the transmission in my 1986 5speed 4wd?

I am finding if I slide it back far enought to clear the splines on the disc, the output shaft is above the cross member that holds the torsion bars and I can't lower it to take it out. If I start angling the tailshaft down as I pull it out the input shaft is going to be bending. At least it seems that way. What is the best way to go? Dave
