Question 1998 Blazer wet carpet

I just bought a 1998 Chevy Blazer LS. The carpet on the front passenger side is wet. I pulled the carpet up and ran the air conditioner to see if I could see if the water was dripping from under the dashboard but did not see any water. I am sure it is water not coolant.Where is this water coming from?

Re: 1998 Blazer wet carpet

I've seen that problem with several vehicles, and it's usually from
-peoples shoes, or wet gear.
-it could be a leaking door seal
-small chance that there's a hole under the carpet

Dry it out before it puts a hole through the floor under the carpet

Did you smell it and feel it to insure it isn't coolant? Everything you describe point to a possible heater core.

I don't know how many vehicles - and not just GM - that I've worked on that have been wet under the carpet for reasons other than heater core trouble. Alot of the time it comes from the weatherstripping around the front edge of the door - the water runs from there right down into the floorboard where it slowly acclumilates, and being under the carpet it takes ages to dry out.

You have a plugged up drain hose from the intake vents infront of the windshield. It is very important to keep them free of debris as the smallest piece of a leaf can clog the rubber tube that hangs straight down in the engine compartment. I have had this problem many times and hapens any time it rains, I run the a/c or I run the defrost the passenger side gets soaked. Since I had it fixed I make sure to keep everything clean of leaves cause they get trapped in the box under there and the hose gets something lodged in it and you are screwed. SOmetimes you can use a coat hanger to get in there and dig the stuff out of the thick rubber hose but I had to have mine taken apart. I think the mechanic charged me like $50. Good luck and please look into what my problem was before you change a hearter core. Have fun

Re: 1998 Blazer wet carpet

The windshield drains could be plugged full of leaves and such.

Water on floor

I have a 99 Chevy Blazer and I was confused by water on the floor on the passengers side. Come to find out the seal around my windshild has let go and if there is a hard rain or i take the Blazer through the car wash water will slowly drip on to the floor.

Happens when I let the leaves get in there.
