Hi, I just wanted to find out what fits mwith how much effort?
Have a 1993 MX-3 GS with a V6 1.8l, I think the code is k8 or something like that with auto trans.

Failed an emission test recently and trans seems to be going out too. Now its eather an engine swap and drive the car or junk it.

I need some info of some engines that would fit a 93GS, I dont want a V6 like that klze same as the one in the car but 2.5L. Looking for a 4cyl possibly will do 5spd conversion.

some body give me engine codes, or what to search on the net for, and how hard is it to swap that engine in?

Also what other cars are compatible like axles, trans?

Oh I'm a technician so I have no problems with machanicals of an engine, I know Nissan's better but my brother wanted to do this.

Possibly will get a front cut,

And one more thing what is the main differance between a 4cyl and 6cyl, not paying attention to the engine?

I'dont know I, it's my brother he does not want a V6. Also it's not my car. He wants one of those 1.8L DOHC I think its called BPT right?

All I need to konw is if it will fit, I have been to a junk yard today and looked at a ESCORT GT it has one of those 1.8L DOHC without a turbo.
looks like it will fit. And also if he decides to do it he will probably order a front clip. Since it's a V6, I heard it has different mouts so the ones for a 4cyl are different. And also some other misc parts that come with the clip, like harness, ecm, trans.

Also do the CV axles fit MX-3, the clip he wants to order is of a car something like a 323 or that 2dr hatch is US that looks like a 323 9with square headlights)

Basicly all I need to know is if a 1.8L DOHC fits into 6cyl, is it just the mouts that are different or is there some body differance

I tried looking for swaps but all I can find are swaps 4cyl to 4cyl and 6cyl to 6cyl if you can give me a web site with 6cyl to 4cyl swap that would be great

P.S. the only reason I think he does not like the V6 is because the engine bay is too crouded

I think you're the first one to downgrade from the 1.8L V6 to a 4 banger... Dunno if the escort 4 banger fits.

It is going to cost him a lot more than doing a KLZE swap, and he's gonna have less than half the power.

I think he wants the BPT because it's a Turbo motor, and with a V6 there is bacically no room for turbo, unless you move the battery to the back I guess.

I guess it's just the bad experience with this 1.8L V6 what is ti caled k8ze or something like that. The motor was shot allread when the car was bought about 4 years ago the you could hear the valve lifter. and the trans went out about 6 months after the car was bought, good thing he paid 1000 USD extra for the 1year drivetrain warranty, because they fixed it, but there was something wrrong with the one they put in because when selsecting reverse it felt like a big hit in the transmission, not mechanical but like too much pressure (auto trans) sounded like reverse accumulator/servo (looks like a little piston in transmission) was up side down or was missing a spring.

Yeah I posted on that forum www.mx-3.com some guy is doing the same thing 4cyl into 6cyl Mx-3.

I just needed to know if it fits with out any body modification.
And I will be getting a front cut of a car with a BPT AWD, I dont know the differance between GTR and GTX but I think thats the GTR one with the AWD trans

I know som minor differances between two GTR's camshaft is hallow for less weight, the valves are filled with some metal that when gets hot it liquifies and helps disipate heat form the head, read it on some web site.
