????? Rear Defroster ?????brianatccm 11-01-2005, 02:47 PM I have a 1993 Ford Escort LX 4-Door Hb with 190,800 miles on it. The rear defroster doesn't work. I took the car to Ford for an estimate at a price of $97.28. They found that the defroster switch and the harness had shorted. They said they could replace it for $330.00 (parts and install). They also said that there may have been something else that caused the short that has to be fixed or replaced. I would rather not pay $330.00 for this part. I have looked online for the defroster switch and can't find any places that sell them. I haven't gone to a junk yard to look for the part because I don't know of any in my area. -Do you have any used defroster switches that work that you would be willing to sell? -Do you know of where I can look up a list of junk yards in the northern New Jersey area? -Brian AIM: briannj497 Thank you for any information you can provide. AzTumbleweed 11-01-2005, 06:06 PM Screw those dealerships! If there was a 'short' then the fuse would have blown. I don't trust them people. The switch went bad on my '93 also. I got another one at a junk yard. Guess you best bet is to look in the yellow pages for a salvage yard. If you search down a few posts at this site I think someone was parting out an escort.
