CD stuck in Player (1998 4Runner)

I have a 1998 4Runner with a CD stuck in the player (it is not a changer). I believe there is an additional problem. The player seems to act is if there is no CD in the changer. When I tried to fish it out with a pair of needle nose pilars I found a metal bar ubstrucking my path. I can see the CD but it seemed to be down in the player. I don't seem to see any way off opening up the player with out removing the console. Any help would be appreciated.

Try inserting a piece of metal wire with a hook shape on the end into the player and try hooking the center hole of the disk and pulling it out.

If your Toyota factory CD player has this model stamped on the front "31803" then it's Toyota part # 08600-00929, Fujitsu Ten # 122001-23900151 which means that it's a Fujitsu Ten make and one of the 3 CD detect surface mounted infrared LED's is defective, pcb locations:

Diode 7
Diode 8
Diode 9

which have Stanley Electric part # AN1102W

and you can find a local retail dealer by contacting Stanley Electric at:

Stanley Electric
2660 Barranca Prkwy
Irvine,California 92606-5029
USA
Ph: 1-800-533-5231
Ph: (949) 222-0777
Fax: (949) 222-0555
Website:http://www.stanley.com

They are about $4 each and I recommend replacing all three, you have to be very skilled in soldering SMT devices otherwise find a local tv & vcr repair shop or if you live in Nova Scotia I will fix it for $50 total (receipt & 6 months warranty).

Good post SydneyCanada

What range of 4Runner years can have this model CD player?

Brian thanks alot for the cortious compliment and editing my reply to reflect Stanley Electric's phone & fax #. Toyota is a very organized auto manufacturer when it comes to being consistent or persistent when using most of the parts in their vehicles for many years "but" when it comes to stereos it becomes confusing because as far as I know they change stereo types & manufacturers within the same model of vehicles throughout the years so it's really difficult to tell which other years of 4-Runners share this single disc CD player but presently sitting next to me on my repair bench is the exact same stereo out of a 2000 Camry.

So taking a wild guess I would say that this model:31803 is used in the 4-Runner and Camrys around 1996-2001.I won't neglect telling you about the tons of very resourceful links that I have.

Is it possible to have the locations of each of the members shown under their online handle name?.Thanks again Brian great site.
