Whining noise between motor & firewall
There is a whining noise between the motor and firewall on the drivers side below the break booster it almost sounds like a pwr steering pump noise but not that side of the engine. I am very confused on what this could be?????? Could this possibly be the torqe converter??? I had it rebuilt 2 years ago.

Re: Whining noise between motor & firewall
The torque convertor is located more towards the rear - center of the engine where the tranny mates up. The tranny pump and valve body is located in the area mentioned.
Normally, when you get a whining sound out of a 4T65E tranny it's due to high line pressure. Almost any DTC error code engine or tranny related can set and force the PCM to command high line pressure.
Did you have the whining sound before you had the other problems?

Re: Whining noise between motor & firewall
Sounds like tranny problems to me, either a front pump or torque converter going bad.

Oh yes...definitely. His other symptoms is it is slipping badly and a possible BTSI (shiftlock) problem or range-gear selector switch problem.
Maybe he should take it to a tranny shop and have it scanned for tranny specific DTC error codes before it breaks down totally.
