Should i do it

Hey im kindof new to the mid engine. I previously had a 93 prelude vtec and im gettin out of it. I have a buddy who is sellin a 93 mr2 turbo with a new jdm motor with 30k on it for 4500k. Should i go and get it. It has alot more torque than my prelude and its nice. How hard is it to workon the motor or even can you? I've heard you can't work on them at all. Thanxz for any input.

Re: Should i do it

If you want a fun fast and somewhat rare sports car then buy it... I would rather work on my MR2 than my Civic (winter car) or any other car I've ever worked on... My car is an 88 but probably similar to the newer ones and Toyotas are nice well engineered cars and quite easy to work on once you know where everything is

^^^

How hard are they to fix up and how hard is it to find parts. Are they very reliable..I want to go to a turbo motor and do things such as upgrade turbo and other miscellanious things to get around low to mid 12's. I figure a low 12's car is VERY capable of a rwd car. My lude as is runs 13.24 with minor mods. But thats also a type-s motor. And i cant really do a whole lot cuz then you loose the fun of vtec.

Re: Should i do it

mr2s aren't very difficult to work on (comparatively)... if you want a 12 second mr2, start off with a turbo car, then look at jekyl

There's how to do it, with the turbo engine.
