can anyone give me the EXACT hp of a stock cobalt ss s/c.... becasue im hearin to many stats... and i think some people are talkin $%ish out there mouths... and i dont see the point.. were all here to help eachother...
so anyone that could hook me up would be greatly appreciate.. because im in the process of buyin the cobalt ss s/c and i wanna know the exact hp so i could see if i want that or the ion redline...
When I was buying my '05 base, it was 205hp for the SS. There was no SC available. As far as I know, the new '06 SC is 170hp. So the SS SC would be 205+170*/2=187.5?

The Chevrolet will have roughly 5 more HP at the wheels BUT it will be about 200 lbs LIGHTER also... It will be 2 tenths quicker because of it.
There is a guy in metro Detroit who is assembling an Eaton M90 setup on a 2.4L using modified 2.0L pieces... Expect around 265 RWHP from a stock looking unit!

Sorry, I had to
I think the SS is still 205hp.
lol HAHAHAHA..... nice
i do have a sense of humor... 205 + 170 / 2..... THATS JKES
Ummm, in '05 the SS only came with a SC, it was 205hp. In '06 they came out with another version, the 2.4L SS, which has 170. They still made the SCed one in '06.

The 05/06 SS/SC's dyno about 205-212 whp on a dynojet bonestock. Chevy has them rated at 205 to the crank but that's on a pull only going up to 5800 rpm. Cobalt pulls max power all the way to rev limiter which is 6500 rpm which it happily pulls up to. This puts it's crank HP around 245.
Go with the Cobalt over the redline. It is the faster of the two vehicles in stock form and looks much better.

Ummmm, at my dealer, it was an SS, not an SC. Maybe it's different in the US where you likely are.

They have both models in the US and Canada. The SS/SC means Super Sport-SuperCharged. The regular SS is the non-supercharged car. It uses a 2.4 liter engine instead of the 2.0 liter LSJ engine
all the SS Cobalts i've seen in the States are supercharged.....i didn't know they made a non SC'd version...
They just began making them in 2006. Like some one said earlier it has the 2.4L Ecotec with 171hp and i believe it has 165ft/lbs of torque. U most likely havent seen them yet cuz they just came out. U will eventually.
