Re: 98 ford taurus tape player

Use a pencil or similar object to turn one of the reels of the tape adapter. Does the other reel also turn? If not, that is probably your problem. Often times an auto reverse tape player will use the reel tachometer to determine when the end of the tape has been reached, then reverse play. After the player tries both sides, it ejects the tape adapter figuring there is an issue with it.

If both reels turn when you spin one, then I'm not sure what the issue is.

You could purchase an FM modulator as an option. I haven't tried one with these cars though, not sure how well they work since the antenna and tuner or in the trunk. The FM modulator may not have a strong enough transmit signal to work well.

I had to buy three before I got one to work in mine. The reels were turning to hard.....I think. One of them, if I wedged it up a little with a knife, would work. Funny thing is the adapter that worked the best was the adapter I paid the least for. I bought it at a car parts surplus store.
