Unhappy 1998 2.0 Sparkplugs look impossible

Hey again...
Im looking into changing the spark plugs and wires on my 2.0 1998 NB. After taking the cover off,,, it looks impossible. It seems as if I have to take off the intake manifold!?!
I need to change my plugs asap. My 1st cylinder wire is screwed up, it sparks to the head sometimes!

Can anyone help me out... Or is there a site illustrating or helping out with changing plugs. Not even alldata.com had it!!
thanks

It is possible to do w/o removing the upper intake plenum. Of course it requires a universal type swivel & an extension. Make sure the new plugs aren't crossthreaded before trying to tighten with a ratchet.

My wires need to be replaced... Any easy methods or good performance brands for a 2.0??

The first time I changed the plugz on my wife's beetle it took me close to an hour and a half! Granted I was trying to be careful, but even given that it took forever.

Needless to say I would love a copy of that PDF if you get a chance. I'll send you my e-mail address directly (spam/security reasons).

thanks in advance,
Joe

If you are still out there Fozzy18, I too would love a copy of the PDF. I have sent a copy of this message to your E-Mail.

Re: 1998 2.0 Sparkplugs look impossible

I don't think this bloke is still there as I asked for a copy a year or so ago. Have read elsewhere that you need to be very careful when pulling the wires and that the inner 2 plugs are actually angled which makes them not too hard to remove with the right socket.
