how hard is it to remove and install an alternator for a 87 crx si. how many bolts to remove, and belt tension adjustment????

It's probably not the correct way to do it, but when i took out my stock (blown) engine and replaced it with another stock si motor i forgot to put the alternator back in with the motor. So what i ended up doing was putting the alternator in from underneath the car through a space between the axle and the firewall. I sat it on the axle and the block, it didnt fall through the space between there, then went in through the top, reached down and put it on that way. But like i said before, there's probably an easier, more intelligent way to do it.

There is one bolt on the bottom to remove, and there is another bolt on top that is used for your tension adjustments. And to get it out is another story. Once you get it unbolted, bring it down, from under the car, and flip/turn/rotate it until it will fall out in about the middle of the car. It usually will fit right between the exhaust and the axle on the driver's side of the exhaust. Don't force it, just let it fall out. It works, and I've done it plenty of times. Just make sure when you instal the new alternator, that you set the belt tension to 1 inch of deflection.
