Piping Size

can anyone tell me the exact pipin size on a stock cobalt 06' ss s/c.....

and to add... i heard that a piece of the pipin behind the stock catback is to small(2.25") that it affects the air flow... because of this loss of air flow... u loss 10 - 15 i believe hp... on a stock s/c cobalt. and the exact hp of a ss s/c is 208 dyno'd.

Re: Piping Size

piping is 2.5 untill it gets pinched down in the back to 2.25. A new catback will help a lot.

Re: Piping Size

ya ya thats what i thought.. well i was askin cause in a couple of weeks... im plannin on grabbin a 06" ss s/c.... but the thing is i heard about that catback problem and muffler, so now i was plannin on gettin chevy to upgrade my stock cat and muffler to a performance model... so that i could get full cover warrantly and boost it to around 220 hp offically stock... sound good or should i stick without the upgrade, have the engine somewhat loose power??? cause im plannin on doin shit after the warrantly.. so havin the engine runnin as well as possiable for lets say 4 years with the upgrade, would sound better.... i dunno what can anyone say about that?

Re: Piping Size

GM doesnt have an exhaust upgrade. Gm has no performance upgrades as of yet. They will after SEMA however.

As for upgrading your exhaust and intake, these mods will not hurt your car at all. Mostly what will hurt it is how you drive it or pumping too much boost without supporting upgrades like injectors and a tune or piggyback.

Stock piping on a cobalt ls is about 1 7/8". Very small.

A flowmaster will also sound like crap on a 4 cylinder.

I suggest get a full catback
