Importingrom 07-31-2001, 11:34 AM I live in Australia and am currently working in Europe so I started looking into bringing a Diablo from Europe. When I asked the dealer in Oz, he said that its best to buy one from Oz as they are specifically 'tailored' for the conditions. If I were to import one then it is difficult for them to service. Also as it is imported it would be worth less than a locally bought car as its more difficult to track service history. Is this true or is this just salesman rubbish, trying to get me to buy locally. dre 07-31-2001, 12:25 PM How happy will they be to service your car? Will they treat you different if you do not buy from them? I had an experience where I bought a bike from my uncle who is out of state. When I brought it in for service locally, the service guy came right out and said "Where'd you get this? Not here.... Well, it may take a while before we can get you in for service." Just something to think about. Hopefully they would just be happy to see a lambo owner. scumbag 08-01-2001, 10:55 AM Just how many places can sevice a Diablo in your area or in Austrailia? With so few service centers I would think they would be glad to service your car(from whatever source) as long as you pay promptly and treat their service dept with respect. Scumbag Peter 08-04-2001, 11:44 AM Hello Rom, In Australia the Lamborghinis are custom tailored to meet Australian certification authorities (including insurance companies and government regulations) Lamborghinis are very strong in Melbourne, Australia for the population - followed by Queensland and Sydney. If you live in Queensland, I suggest you give Matthew Johnson of European Automobiles a call, he handles all the Lamborghini clientel for Queensland, he's a really friendly and easy to get a long with guy. They also provide around the clock assistance for your newly found supercar. Because of the introduction of GST into Australia, Lamborghinis (VT 6.0, 2001) have dropped an insane amount ($200,000+) and are now AUD$465,000 - cheaper than the USA. Anyways, here are some leads you will want to follow. A) Eurpean Automobiles 35 Nind Street South Port, QLD Contact: Matthew Johnson Ph: 07 5577 0800 URL: http://www.euroautos.com.au/ B) Cavalli 161 Fitzroy Street St. Kilda, Melbourne C) Trivett Classic Garage Sydney D) Team Lamborghini (For further leads) * Legendry Diablo driver Paul Stoken posts in TLA's forums http://www.teamlamborghini.com.au Melbourne Hopes this helps getting you started. The passion for Lamborghini, once started, is undescribeable - it just gets stronger and stronger. Best Regards Peter Stevens peter@stevens.org rom 08-06-2001, 01:33 PM Peter Thanks for your response. Most helpful. When you say that they are custom tailored for Oz conditions Is it still possible to import one from Europe and make the modifications. I will contact the Queensland number you suggested. Do they import European cars or will they just find me one in Oz. I'm looking at buying a 98 VT so I assume GST wont apply to 2nd hand cars Regards Lambo_BoY 08-13-2001, 09:46 PM Peter is Right, But one update, Cavalli in Melbourne does not import Lamborghinis any more, the Authoriesed Dealer is Sharp Performance on Clarenton St, Beside Crown Casino. But, it is really depending on the car you are importing. And how much it is going to cost to for Convertion into Australian Regulation. And usually it can only be produced by a authorised engineer that is Lamborghini Authorised, eg, the guy who owns Sharp Performance is a Machanic, and when he imports a Lamborghini, he will finish all the other hassels by him self, or say Sharp Performance will do it all rather than the dealer give to some one else for evaluation and etc and therefore building up the costs! Of course, if you can get a really good bargen from Europe, you might just bring one in. But notice that you can only bring Right Hand Drive, and they are mostly from England, and the cars in England is very expensive than just say Swissland or German. For personal Pleasure, then you'll pay any price for the car of your dream. but if you start a business, then you may consider trying look in Hong Kong or Japan, where the Currency exchange is good and Hong Kong often has very cheap cars. I notice there was one auction in Yahoo Hong Kong sold a 1997 Diablo Roadster for under 1.2 Million Hong Kong Dollars, and that's only 250 thousand AUS Dollars, with Tax, corvertion (May be depending the regulations in Hong Kong) and the owner may apply a cheaper sold price so that you pay less tax and etc, you may end up saving a lot of money than buying a car locally. One last thing, if you buy from the dealer just say Sharp Performance for instance, they will support your Lamborghini for as long as you own it. but if they know its a private import, they'll cut you like a cattle!! got any other questions, just ask me, i did all those things.. Address: Yurong St Sydney (not sure what number) New Name: Trivett Classic Aston Martin Domain : it used to be trivettclassicgarage.com.au but it is now astonmartinsydney.com.au Given the name change I suspect that they may no longer deal in Lamborghini though... maybe worth a try. Oops, just realised how long ago you posted, it may help you. The only thing that dumb fucking tax law that does anything GOOD. While Howard gets little money for the 50 or so people in all of Australia buying these super sports cars worth half a million dollars, the other 20,003,456 people are putting up with high tax on everything else, and double taxed everything else like petrol, genius why didn't I think of that. Thank you Mr. Fucking Howard you dumb piece of shit. Other than that, Thank you for bring up a thread that's been decaying for 4 years. Which is why the domain name had changed and they've moved and you can't find them. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
