painting techniques questions(sorta)

Me and my father are restoring a 1968 VW Bug and we decided to paint it ourselves. We just bought a Devilbiss FinishLine spray gun and some etching primer from our local automotive paint supply place to practice painting on the old hood of the car. The paint we will be using is Dupont Nason basecoat/clearcoat. A while ago(before we learned more about painting work) we thought it would be best to take it to bare metal. Most of the car is down to bare metal now, and rust free(kept in the garage). But heres a few questions

1. We have no windows in the car. Should the windows be installed before we paint to keep overspray out of the interior? Theres nothing in the interior that matters much(EVERYTHING is out of it). I assume this is a yes because when painting the inside of the doors and stuff overspray will get on the already painted outside.

2. There is a thin rubber seal that needs to be installed inbetween the fenders and the body of the car(we have all that stuff but its not installed yet). Would it be best to paint the fenders off the car so the seal stays black or are seals like this usually painted the same color as the car?

3. Should we Paint the underside of the fenders and the underside of the engine compartment lid and the Hood? Should both of these be painted when they are on or off the car?

4. Most of the car is down to bare metal, but there is a few spots where a layer of old primer or basecoat will not come off easily. If i just left these on there would the be filled in by the primer and body filler or is it best just to sand them off?

5. we have a compressor that makes 12 cfm at 40 psi. The paint place said this would be sufficient(the guy who owns the paint place actually uses the same compressor but his gun is a lil bit nicer than ours). Will having the air run through about 15 feet of 3/4" PVC pipe and then through a water trap and then into our normal 25 foot air hose that goes to the gun cut down the CFM ill get at the end of the hose too much? The paint guy told me that for 25 feet of small hose(flexible hose that he sold me) ill loose about 20 PSI but im not sure if that applies to CFM too.

Keep the windows out. You will get a much better finished product.

Don't paint the seals. You should paint the fenders off the car, but at the same time with the same can of paint.

Undersides with pieces off will give you a better finished product.

You can leave that old primer there.

The last part all depends on what type of gun you have, and how many psi @ what cfm it requires.
