05 Silverado 2500HD Diesel Question

I have a friend that bought a 2005 2500HD with the Allison trans and a diesel engine. The dealership told her that it had drum brakes in the back and that that was a good thing. They gave her some cock-a-mamey story but today I was looking at the truck and noticed she has disc brakes in the back. Is that better? Is that an upgrade? I always thought discs were better then drum. She pulls around about a 15,000lb horse trailer with living quarters in it without any problems.

Drums aren't even available anymore. Not sure when GM changed them to disc, but it's been a couple years. Sounds like an awesome dealer!

The HD models only came with DISC brakes

The 1500 trucks came with DISC/ DRUM or DISC/DISC brakes

Re: 05 Silverado 2500HD Diesel Question

The VHO which comes on the 4x4 frame has 17" Disc/Drum. Stops well at the track and on the street, Damn Parkway/Interstate....
