My '04 has the steering shaft clunk, and I was searching for references to TSB's, hopefully to find one that recommends replacement rather than the grease treatment. The only TSB's I've found refence up to 2003, but not beyond. Does anyone know of anything more recent that would include 04's and newer models?

My employer just had his '04 Silvy in to the dealer to have the steering shaft replaced. It's not a recall, just a warantee item. They seem to be in stock now, as last year when I had mine replaced there was a substancial wait for the backordered shaft.

That's good to hear. I'll find out next week when I bring mine in for service.

What is the cost of the new shaft?

I noticed a soft "klunk" in my truck about a year ago. Not in turning, just going over bumps.

I thought it sounded like a worn front shock mount.

Does not sound like a clank or a rattle, but a definit klunk. A soft sounding klunk.

Checked the shocks, seems ok. Everything feels tight in the front end. Even when I "shake" the truck, I can't duplicate the klunk. Only when driving.

Is this the classic steering shaft klunk?

Anyway, what is the cost of the new shaft??
