on a 98 taurus that i just put a 66,000 mile engine in the fuel pump is not comming on

i can hear the eecm relay click when i turn on the igniton and it sends a second power supply to the fuel pump relay but the does not send power to the pump(yeah i'll try a new relay)

i can jump power form the battery to the slot where the fuel pump relay goes and the pump comes on and pumps fuel so the problem is not between the fues box and the pump

Do you have the vulcan or duratec engine?

Bill1842, i have the same problem(fuel pump failing to power up), but with my I 1993 Ford Taurus 3.0. This morning i had the same thing again, but then i decided to disconnect power from the computer(CCRM) to see if that helps. And it did. I would think unhooking the negative wire from the battery would also do the trick.
But instead of taking it to a repair shop, i'd like to find out what could be wrong and fix it myself.
