"thunking" noise when turning corners!stkroegr 10-09-2005, 07:46 PM Does anybody know what would cause a "thunking" noise when turning corners? I really can't tell whether it's coming from the front or rear, but I believe it is the front. At times I think I can even feel it under the floor board on the driver side. It started about 2 1/2 years ago only when I turned left (I think) now it does it on every turn. I have had the sway bars replaced, new tires and alignment and many other items (too numerous to remember) and it still does it. Nobody can find anything wrong with it. I have drove it like this for approx. 2 1/2 years - I guess it might be time to sell this '95 with 120,000 miles before something else happens. tjm 10-09-2005, 09:27 PM if it makes the noise while you are stopped then its probably just the strut bearing. if its quiet while stopped and is most pronounce while tuning and accelerating - like in a parking lot - then likely a CV joint. Sweet William 10-10-2005, 06:47 AM It sounds like the same thing I have in both my 95's. A single clunk/snap sound when you turn. If that's the sound it is not a cv joint. One of mine has done it for three years 40,000 miles or so. Still not sure where it comes from. stkroegr 10-10-2005, 09:47 AM I'm pretty sure I had the CV joint replaced. It only makes the sound when I turn corners. I've found the same thing - after taking it to 3-4 shops no one knows where it is coming from. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
