red/clear tails DIY?

is it possible to clear out that nasty orange tail lenses on my 97 coupeż or my only option is spending $$$?

You can't clear them out, but youcan always paint them red.

yea you can, I read about doing so, but you need to take a knife and see if you can scrape off the plastic or sometimes there is a plastic panel in the lights so you can take out the panel, but mainly you can sand it down.

There is this awsome liquid they use in japan to clear out thier orange tail lights. They just poor it into the housing, let it sit inside and it eats away at the orange and turns it clear! "Set it, and forget it!" (stupid info-mercials haha)

DO NOT SAND PLASTIC!!!! YOU WILL RUIN YOUR LENSES! Seriously, its way easier to just go out and find some all clears, because from that point on you will have a canvas to work from, I think I have painted mine 3 times now and the results are always pretty good.

i guess you could try going to a paint store and look at solvents/laquer and see if any of those would work. just make sure it won't disolve plastic too.

i'm about to pick up 2G tails from this kid for like 50 bucks .. :flash: so i'll have to forget about my plan to do it myself...
