Keyless Entry on Ebay will it fit 2000 Blazer?

Here is a link for the product on Ebay, will this plug into my 2000 blazer that was not originally equipped with keyless entry, it says it plugs into the BCM, where is the BCM on the 2000 Blazers? Thanks!

Re: Keyless Entry on Ebay will it fit 2000 Blazer?

It doesn't plug directly into the BCM. There is a wire harness near the driver's side foot area where this module plugs into. Remove the black plastic shield near the foot pedals. Near the LH upper corner you will find the small connector.

I tried this with my '98 Blazer that didn't have keyless entry. The wire harness was there, despite not having the factory option.

The BCM pretty much controls the functions, the keyless entry module just forwards the user's commands.

Following the instructions in the shop manual to program the system, I have yet to get it to work. The BCM and keyless entry module aren't working together. According to the manual, there is a wiring problem.

I had wondered if there was a possibility that GM set the BCMs from the factory with a disabled flagged for the keyless entry option, since it is software controlled. However, I have no proof.

I sort of put it on the back burner, but I thought it would be a very cheap option of getting keyless entry for your Blazer if it wasn't equipped, especially for someone like me who perfers factory GM.

Hi you are correct about the factory setting the BCM up for keyless,I have a 98 I am trying to install the factory system. but the BCM does not recognize the signal from the reciever, running the trouble charts for inop remotes leades me to the BCM (no B+ voltage on the BCM signal wire) I work at a chevy dealer and tryed to call the factory and they would not talk to me because the truck was being modified?? The wiring is there so you would think it would be a snap to do! Any one have an idea how to make it work?? The BCM's are not the programmable type and I think they learn the options and VIN # on key up and the theft relearn so How will it ever know you have added the keyless reciever??

Re: Keyless Entry on Ebay will it fit 2000 Blazer?

I just replied to the other thread. It is "good" to know that we all have the same results. I wondered the likelihood of there actually being a wiring issue, as the book suggested.

I thought perhaps the body computer was programmed from the factory and that perhaps GM went to the degree of actually setting such an option to "on" or "off" based on the vehicle's equipment.

However, not only would that not make total sense to customize the units down to that degree when not needed, it would also present an issue if the body computer had to be replaced.

Maybe, despite the other circuits being "live" to the keyless entry module, perhaps the circuit from the body computer really isn't hooked-up?

Personally I don't like the OEM keyless. For only a few bux more you can get a quality keyless entry, alarm, remote start system. Just my opinion.

Re: Keyless Entry on Ebay will it fit 2000 Blazer?

Mind if I ask for specifics about an aftermarket keyless entry and remote start? I haven't been into that, so I'm not sure what to look for, brand wise.

Though I have to say the OEM module I got for $15.00 with key fob. That's pretty cheap.

Viper, bulldog, and prestiege (audiovox) are good ones... Depends on the features you want... This is what I have http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...2330&langId=-1

Decent system. You can do a lot of add-on's to it.
