VR6 Swap

Hey,
I am looking for more performance outta the beetle. One thing for sure is that the new ones are nothing like the old ones where you could swap ANY engine. I've seen the old ones with small blocks all the way to h22's (prelude vtec dohc).
Well, i saw a vr6 swap in a new bug on eiptuning...
I was wondering whats all involved in the swap, if anyones done it, and how difficult it might be....
Do you swap the tranny too? I can imaging, but how would the vr6 and the tranny ever fit?
Any info, questions, or comments would be great.
This could also be the PERFORMANCE Thread since all the other threads are mostly problems and questions.
Thanks!!!

Technically you could because there the same mounting points, you would just have to install the engine from the bottom up.

Re: VR6 Swap

What about the tranny?
Theres no way in hell that a 2.0's tranny could hold more than 200 or so.
Thanks!

Have you been to vwvortex.com? There's a number of people there that have done VR6 and full out RS 32 conversions on NB's. Just do a search in the New Beetle Forum and you should get all your questions answered.
HPA Motorsports out of Vancouver will do what they call a stage three conversion for you, but your last name should be something like Gates or Trump...
That's a TT four motion Floorpan switchout, VR6 with twin Turbo and Porsche brakes. Rated above 600HP. No I'm not kidding! There was a convertible on EBAY awhile back for 80G's.
