Couple of Accord Questions.DannMann99 10-02-2005, 08:50 PM Okay first, I am coming into an 96 (i believe) accord that has been sitting for about a full year. It has about 80k miles on it and hasnt even been turned on in a year. What im wondering: What should i check before i start driving this thing. Im going to have to take it on a 90 mile trip so i dont want anything going too wrong here. Also, I am wondering more of an opinion based question. Currently i drive a 94cavalier, 40k miles, original everything in it, and im pretty much poor as anything. So im wondering for longevity, which car would you choose to drive? Any help on either of these questions would be very greatly appreciated. thanks again. -Daniel McN. lorunner 10-03-2005, 07:44 PM check all the fluids first of course. then start it up. You may want to get the oils changed just because the car was sitting. also check the air in the tire. Then drive it and make sure it stops ok. Personally i would drive the 96 accord over the caviler. In my opinion those four cylinder chevy's don't have a very long lifespan were as the accord if you treat it right you should have no problem turning 200k miles russiankid 10-09-2005, 01:26 PM check all the fluids, check for any leaks in the hoses, check tire pressure, check the tires so that they arent cracked really badly, change engine and tranny oil, and start it up, but before you start it up check the engine oil, you dont want to start it and have no oil. after u start it let it sit for a bit, also before you start it check the belts if they are cracked or torn, if they are you wont be able to drive it. when u drive make sure the breaks works, other then that bring it home and work on it vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
