wheel lock delimaRidleyj329 09-29-2005, 04:38 PM i have a 92 sc2. dont know if it really matters. but for god only knows why it has wheel locks. my problem is that i lost the key. any suggestions on how to get em off? there only on the rear tired and coincidentaly enough those are the only ones i need to get to bc their in dire need of a brake change in the rear. Mines69Olds 09-29-2005, 08:58 PM I say just get on down to the dealer and buy a new one. They are probably around 10 bucks. You'll probably need it in the future too so its probably a good investment. sierrap615 09-29-2005, 10:15 PM find someone with a air chisel Mines69Olds 09-30-2005, 11:05 AM Are you serious? Ridleyj329 09-30-2005, 02:01 PM yes im serious. and i dont think they came from the dealer to order a replacement. i went to a local tire shop where they had old used keys. i found a couple that fit but not exactly. would it be a bad idea to try and use one of them? peppermrj 09-30-2005, 09:02 PM Go for it. If you get them off throw them away. peppermrj 09-30-2005, 09:46 PM i have a 92 sc2. dont know if it really matters. but for god only knows why it has wheel locks. my problem is that i lost the key. any suggestions on how to get em off? there only on the rear tired and coincidentaly enough those are the only ones i need to get to bc their in dire need of a brake change in the rear. They do make a wheel lock removal tool. I think I saw a cheap set ($19.00) at either Advance auto parts, Autozone, or Sears. A larger tire shop should have the tool.http://www.kentool.com/tireserv_WCLM.htm (http://) peppermrj 09-30-2005, 09:49 PM Ridleyj329 10-01-2005, 02:17 AM if i use a key that fits but not exactly, what are the odds of stripping the lock versus actually loosening it? or would i be better off using a different method. im trying to find the easiest or cleanest way to remove it. sierrap615 10-01-2005, 04:26 PM depending on the design, you may strip the lug or brake the tool. if it doesn't work, a air chisel should still work(if you know how to do it right) Ridleyj329 10-02-2005, 06:27 PM thanx for the help guys. i got em off. i used a sockt that was just barely big enough to fit over the lock. i hammered it on then turned it with a ratchet and bingo got em. Mines69Olds 10-03-2005, 11:05 AM That sounds a lot better than using an air chisel. Personally I think that is the last resort. Spending a little bit of cash to maybe save an accident or damage that could be prevented is well worth it. But it's great that you got them off... Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
