I'm new at this but here goes...I just bought a 97 Camry and the Keyless Remote broke on the original Key. I bought a New Key for $35 Bucks and they want another $35 Bucks to program the thing. The Guy I bought it from lost the Owners Manuel. My question is do I have to take to the Shop to Program the thing

Get in touch with a Toyota dealer. Like most maker's, they keep the key patterns, remote & radio codes on file via the VIN number.

Unless you're in a trusting area with trusting dealers (or someone is f'ing up) you'll need to be in person with some ID to attain the codes.
