195 degree thermostat

Hi, I have 97 GP GT w/104,000 miles. I changed my thermostat today and didn't realize until tonight that the guy from Autozone sold me a 195 degree thermostat. Since I live in Michigan and we're in Autumn and approaching winter, should I just leave this one in? I keep hearing that the 180 stat is prefered. Thanks for any and all info in advance...

Re: 195 degree thermostat

A 195 stat is stock, and will give you much better heat in the winter. I'm from Michigan too (Flint) and know how our winters are. A 180 stat will produce less heat from the heater, which is BAD in winter.
