Well, im not a tuner, but i want just to increase the hp on my s10 2.2l (daily driver), just thinking small...like a K&N air filter and a new K&N Induction kit...these arent to too expense and can also improve mpg..so and more recommendations? ... is there better brands..? thanks

Just a good tune up.

Until someone tests a new K&N air filter against a new paper air filter on a Dyno I won't believe that the K&N increases power. I've tried them on several vehicles and never felt a difference "like they claim you will"

Also make sure that the brakes aren't draging, and remove any extra weight that you don't need.

These few things will also increase your fuel economy.

i HAVE noticed more power with the K&N Induction system, but its when almost at full throttle, after 25mph before shifting at 2nd; after 45mph before shifting to 3rd! if i don't drive hard, i did notice around 2mpg gain. went from 243mi per tank to 270mi per tank. its a 2000 2.2l I live in denver 5500ft elevation

I installed the K&N intake kit on my 94 4.3 Vortec and noticed an increase in the higher rpm range. I also installed an underdrive 3 piece pully set and noticed a hugh "hole shot" differance. In addition to that I installed a high flowing cat and muffler with 2.5" pipe. I don't know how a change in exhaust will affect your 2.2 engine but it shure helped bring my 4.3 to life.

Good Luck
