Ignition fixes?bunnyrunner 09-21-2005, 01:00 PM My 4Runenr was stolen and recovered yesterday. I got it back, the ignition tumbler and key set is missing (big surprise there, huh!) It is sitting at a auto repair shop now waiting for the ins adjuster to check it out. The price to fix it... $450.00!!!! Asked for a detail of what was wrong with it... tumbler and key set missing, I asked if the bracket was broken.. their response was just that it was damaged. I can insert a screwdriver, turn it and it starts right up. My question is couldn't I just get the tumbler and key set from a parts store, install myself and save about $400.?? Or since the brackets damaged, I dont know the extent.. should I get that replaced as well. It was always my understanding that if the bracket was broke that it wouldnt turn over, with a screwdriver or anything, though I could be wrong, what do I know, I'm just a single mom trying to save that bill $$.
