Tranny ate my dipstick!!!bae007 09-20-2005, 11:58 AM WTF, my transmission ate the dipstick. The dipstick is totaly eaten off. Now I have to put tranny fluid in it like every two weeks. Transmission shop said they didn't want to service it, they said if it is running ok then just keep driving it. Also I don't see any tranny fluid spots where I park my car, so why do I have to keep adding fluid. Tranny shifts fine when I add fluid but after about two weeks it starts to slip/ or more acuratly is loses power especially when making turns. Its a 95 civic ex. What should I do. Greenblurr93 09-20-2005, 02:10 PM auto to manual swap... or get another tranny BullShifter 09-20-2005, 11:21 PM Somebody obviously didn't know how to check a Honda auto trans. The fluid level should be checked with the engine OFF otherwise you run the risk of the dipstick getting chewed up. Does the dip stick still seal at the top? Servicing a high mileage trans with current problems will only make them worse, there is a reason why they wont service it. It isn't hard to do. All you need is a 3/8" ratchet(no socket required) remove the drain plug, clean magnet, reinstall plug, fill 2.35qts, start engine, go through gears, shut off, check level, add as needed.
