Unhappy 89 S-10 Blazer w/ Digital Instrument Cluster

I have an '89 S-10 Blazer with the Digital Gauge Cluster. The other day I was driving down the road and it just went off. I didnt drive it for a while because someone told me that it might need a new computer and i could not afford one at the moment, so i just drove another vehicle. Well, the other day i went to move it because it hadn't been started for a while and when i turned the key, the dash lit back up again. So I drove it again for a while and it worked for about a week. But now it is messed up again. Another mechanic told me that it could be the cluster itself... Any suggestions?

Re: 89 S-10 Blazer w/ Digital Instrument Cluster

could be the cluster, computer, or something as simple as a lose ground or power wire! trace all wires to the ecm, and to the cluster, just last week we had a buic, speedo didnt work, almost 10 hours in laber later, we had the ladies problem fixed, the vss wire melted inside itselfe, like fusable link would, and you had to physically feel it to know there was a problem, you could not see any difference between good wire and hers, struck me as odd and havnt seen that b4, but just so you know, just because it looks good doesnt mean that it is~
