Lotus Elise color attempt, disaster follows

My disasterous attempt at color. Prisma scholar pencils, unknown drawing paper. I couldn't blend the colors or smooth anything. I'll stick with graphite and gray scales next time :disappoin
I do like the black though, i'll use the black prisma in conjuction with a graphite pencil next time :)

MBTN that looks good. You can't just quit just because it didn't turn out the way you wanted.
I have been doing pastel works for 2-3 yrs now and I am just getting to where I like my stuff.

I know I say this over and over again but go to Barnes and Nobles and peruse the art books on color pencils.

Looks good! Better than my first color attempt. Color usually takes longer than graphite (it does for me), so just have patience and keep practicing. Don't worry if you can't finish a color drawing as fast as a graphite one.

I think you stopped too soon.

Don't be afraid to give your prismas some depth. Look at Alex's stuff.

Another consideration could be your surface. Some papers lend themselves to prisma better than others.

Your grasp of the greyscale shows a solid foundation for color rendering.

Just land the plane and draw...you're doing fine.

Perspective is great. Black is fine!

I'm learning to draw with colored pencils at the moment too. I already found out that:

- the paper is very important for the result. I tried several sheets, they just have to have a smoooooth surface.

- on large colored areas, i use many many layers of color, and i don't always do strokes, I also do circles. it helps me to get a smoother colored area.

- if I'm still not satisfied, i take cotton whool sticks or a hanky and smudge over it. this helps to get the color into the small holes of the papers texture. Overall, you get a result like the supra I posted a while ago.

That didn't work for me. Didn't smudge one bit. Once the color was down, that was it. I couldn't manipulate it one bit.

yeah, like some others have said, keep going. or quit this one and do it again.

it is not as bad as you initially felt. to me, you are simply at the under-drawing color stage.
