well... depends on your driving. i have a stick shift 2001 pathfinder, and if i drive barefoot, use only the weight of my foot to tap the gas and keep it in 5th as much as possible, i get about 22 mpg (without AC as well). If i drive normal i get around 14-16 mpg (with AC as well) the tank holds about 20 gallons, with about a 3 gallon reserve. so when the needle hits empty, at 14 mpg you've gone about 260 miles or so. i don't know how different a QX4 would be, but i'm guessing it's around there.

Re: qx4 mileage

i think he's asking about the overall lifetime expectation. like how long 'til it just starts going FUBAR on you.

well, i have a '97 QX4, pretty much the same vehicle...still an R50 with the 3.3L, auto, 4x4, etc., and i have about 151k miles on this baby and it still runs good. if you keep up with maintenance, it'll last you a long while as the vg33 is considered a durable engine...not powerful, but indeed durable. and since it's not that strong, i'd say that would definitely decrease stress on the transmission.

speaking of the transmission, ATF coolers are only on the 96&97 Q's, so look to invest $50 or so on a transmission fluid cooler to extend the life of your transmission...well worth it.

200K+ easily if you keep up on maintenance.

Re: qx4 mileage

I have a 2000 that has 130k on it and it still runs like a champ. It gets crappy gas mileage, but thats expected. Mine has the stock ATF cooler so I dont know what there talkign about, it runs right into the radiator. might not be the best one, but its there. I also tow some with mine and it does fine with it.
