It's finally painted!
I'm in between jobs at the moment so I had 2 choices
1 - paint my Blazer myself
or
2 - leave it until Spring
What do you think for my third ever paint job?

Re: It's finally painted!
Looks great .... what kind of paint did you use ? Base/clear ?
I have been putting off painting my truck ... a little scared. I don't want to screw things up.
Any tips ?

Re: It's finally painted!
To be perfectly honest I just used Por-15 products, which are more of an industrial paint for 2 reasons.
1 - it's suposidly the best anti-rust product around. Very highly rated and my Blazer had too much surface rust.
2 - I've gotten it scratched up just about every weekend that I've gone off roading, so I don't want the most expensive paint when it won't last as long.
The base coat is POR-15 Preventive Paint
and the top coat is POR-15 Blackcoat.
My best tips are sandblast the rust spots out.
Sand everything properly.
Keep things clean.
Take your time.
Oh, when spraying lock the doors, some idiot came in the shop just to bug me... which is why I have 1 run on the other side.
It took me about 4 days to prep things, 1 day to tape everything up and clean it.
And 3 hours to paint and clean up my paint guns.
I've got a normal paint gun for the primer, and a HVLP (high volume low pressure) paint gun for the paint.

Re: It's finally painted!
I got lucky, and had a friend with new fenders, and a new hood that I got for $175.00 Canadian. So that did help me although the origionals were straight and not overly rusted
If I was 15 to 20 years younger I probably would do bodywork for a living. And be happy to move south to the mile high city Mike.

Re: It's finally painted!
Actually I decided to leave the little bit of orange peal.
No sanding done yet and I don't think that I'll bother.
Thanks doug
