one bright and one dim headlightwess67216 09-15-2005, 08:03 PM Just received a Dodge Ram 1500 and trying to get it ready for inspection. I have a problem that I never ran into before with the headlights. The left headlight is nice and bright, while the passenger side is barely visible. Have changed bulbs in both with same result. I figure that it is a bad ground or excessive resistance, but where to start? andy2005 09-15-2005, 08:37 PM Just thinking out loud here, but is it possible that one headlight is severly out of alignment thus is appearing dim compared to the other?? theFREAKnasty82 09-15-2005, 11:24 PM Just received a Dodge Ram 1500 and trying to get it ready for inspection. I figure that it is a bad ground or excessive resistance, but where to start? your assumption is correct on the ground theory, make sure the body grounds are ok and not corroded & are tightened properly. If you have access to a voltmeter, connect your positive lead to the ground terminal of the headlight electrical connector and the negative lead to a good engine/body ground. If you read more than 0.5V, you have a bad ground. Ground voltage should be no more than 0V. nealuss 09-24-2005, 06:09 PM I couldn't have said it better myself. its nice to see other people on here with good automotive electrical knowledge.
