Well there's new cars that let you either go auto or shift it yourself like in my friends Mazda 6 so I had to make sure.

Well onto the topic, shifting an auto will be slower than you think, let the comp do it and bam faster speed.

Well down shifting is to slow down.. or atleast thats what I use it for. I tried racing, doing the auto shifting thing and almost lost so I wouldnt recommend it during a race, although I DO downshift whenever I feel like taking on a curve and dont feel like braking or use it to help out.

See if you asked that in the beggening it would've been better..

Sorry if I seem like that, but its not bad for your car, so SHIFT AWAY! Just remember it will bring your gas mileage down too if you shift everytime you redline, so dont..

No, dude I said its fine it doesnt mess up your engine or trans, as far as I know. All I said is whats obvious.. pushing your revs high then shifting will bring down your gas mileage.

Re: SHIFTING AUTO's

They make shift kits that make the auto act like a manual. Meaning that when you put it into 2nd, ITS IN SECOND. Great for Power Braking
