I have a '95 BMW 318 ti

My rear brake lights stopped working. The brake light in the rear window still works but not the brake lights on the tail.?? I have replaced the bulbs....still not working. I asked the parts folks at BMW if it might be the brake light switch...they said the rear window light would also not be working if it was the switch.

They suggested the socket panel in the back....but I am suspicious. Would both left and right socket panels for rear lights malfunction at the same time in both left and right brake light?

Anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps some sort of other electrical problem?

Thanks,
