Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (IMTV) modification

i was playing around with the valve and i want it to open when i want it to. is there a relay for the valve or does it get its power from the ecm? i want to rig up a switch so i can choose when i want to power instead of the computer. it only kicks in if i'm flooring it or 75% floored. i know this because i took the truck for a drive with a meter on it. one of my main goals is to get it to open when i want more power up a hill but not to shift into passing gear. is there a relay or what powers it?

No need to open it at any other time.

You will hurt your torque opening it to early.

Just leave it alone.

You obviously don't know what the IMTV valve does do you.

When the torque curve starts to drop in the higher rpms it opens to promote more high rpm torque.

Opening it early won't do anything.

Re: Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (IMTV) modification

ok. i didn't really see much of a difference when opening it early but being able to hold it in the whole time instead of kicking off at 4,500. now the truck cherps 2nd gear and pulls strong the whole time its floored.

Re: Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (IMTV) modification

It doesn't kick off at 4500 normally. It stays open depending on throttle angle and load.

Re: Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (IMTV) modification

i took the truck out for a test drive with a meter. it kicks off at 4,500. thats why when it hits that it dosen't pull as hard as it did at 4,000.

Is this normally or when you manually were opening it.

Re: Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (IMTV) modification

Ah, yes, it will seeing at those rpms the torque curve is not needed as much.
