Interesting mod

I wonder if this is possible.

I want to hook the chime that sounds when the door is open to toggle on and off with the dome override switch. When the light is on, the chime sounds, when light off, no chime. I like to listen to my stereo alot with the doors open and I can't stand for the drivers door to be open b/c of the chime.

What y'all think?

Re: Interesting mod

A piece of duct tape over the switch works great....

It absolutely can be done. It is just a matter of looking at the wiring schematic and figuring out what needs to be done. It may, however, not be easy to accomplish.

Question:
Does anyone here have a wiring diagram for 99-02 1500s?

Re: Interesting mod

I have the electric schematics in the 99-01 Haynes manual for the truck that I sold. Anyone want to give me a few dollars for shipping and I will send the manual to you...

The most basic way to do this (on paper) is to is disconnect the power from the chime switch and attach it to the switch leg of the dome override button

here is a very crude example:

current:

what it should be:

Told ya it was crude.... My drawing skills were never really high....
