oil change question.....

I'm looking to change the oil on my girlfriend's 99 grand am 2.4L ecotec. I've changed my oil many times on my 96 camaro without trouble. From looking around online, I've gathered that the filter is cartridge type that you access from the top of the engine? Is this right, or is this just for the 2.2 ecotec? I would assume that they would both have the same type. I haven't looked at her car closely and can't find any pictures online that would be helpful. So if you could help me out with some info (and pics would be really great) on how to change the filter, and where the oil pan/drain is would be most helpful. If this is more trouble than its worth I might just have to send her off to jiffy lube...thnx
